Athletic Director Job Description: 

  • Manage the organization and administration of the overall program of Interscholastic Athletics for the school

  • Promote good school and community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program. 

  • Verify each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport as assigned. 

  • Serve as a coach when necessary. 

  • Supervise athletic events. 

  • Coordinate transportation for away games. Coordinates other transportation when necessary.  

  • Hire and manage coaching staff including Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Volunteers

  • Ensure full adherence to standards set by the CHSAA and the NYSPHSAA.

  • Ensure that coaches and student-athletes uphold the values of Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School.    

  • Work with coaches to develop schedules for all athletic events including practice schedules. Oversee and ensure accuracy of Athletic Schedule, which includes practices, games and other team events taking into account the Cristo Rey CWSP Model.  

  • Attend all CHSAA Athletic Director’s meetings.

  • Manage athletic budget in coordination with President and Finance Office

  • Communitate student-athlete early dismissals clearly with teachers and administrators.

  • Promote activities designed to foster school spirit among students for the athletic teams.  

  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth. 

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality. 

  • Adhere to the appropriate Code of Ethics. 

  • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Principal and/or President
